Dr Reginald H.B. Goodday

DDS, MSc, FRCD(C)

Biography

Dr. Goodday obtained his MSc in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia followed by a clinical OMFS fellowship in Australia. He is a full professor and past chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences at Dalhousie University. He presently serves on the Senate of Dalhousie University as the representative for the Faculty of Dentistry.

He is a past President of the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and has served as both the Chief Examiner of OMFSurgery and the Examiner in Chief of all Specialties for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He has received the International College of Dentists Award, Brock Rondeau Award, Silver D Award, International Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation Award of Merit, the WW Wood Award for excellence in teaching, Dean’s Circle Award, the Distinguished Service Award from the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, the Distinguished Service Award from the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a member of the Dalhousie President’s Circle.

He is an elected Fellow of the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists, a reviewer for the American Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Journal of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and the Editor for the Obstructive Sleep Apnea Section in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Knowledge Update Series. He has participated in 14 cleft charity missions to Vietnam and 3 missions to Tunisia, Africa.

Dr. Goodday is on active staff at the QE Health Science Center and the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Interests outside of OMF

Interests outside of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery include Offshore Sailing. He has participated in many ocean races from Marblehead, Massachusetts to Halifax, Nova Scotia and from Newport, Rhode Island to Bermuda. Presently he is Rear Commodore of the Bras d’Or Station for the Cruising Club of America.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Dr Goodday’s research interests include the diagnosis, treatment planning and surgical management of obstructive sleep apnea.
