Dr Chad Robertson

DDS, MD, MSc, FRCD(C)

Biography

Chad is originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. In 1996 he obtained his DDS from the University of Western Ontario, graduating with distinction. He then completed a one year General Practice Residency at the same institution prior to moving to Halifax to obtain his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Following the completion of the 6 year MD/MSc program at Dalhousie University, Chad obtained fellowship training in oral oncology at the University of California, San Francisco.

Upon completion of his fellowship in San Francisco, Chad returned to Halifax to work at Dalhousie University, the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, and the IWK Health Centre.

Chad has had some tremendous mentors during his training, allowing him to manage patients with a broad scope conditions. His scope of surgery includes:
• benign and malignant surgical pathology of the head and neck region
• orthognathic
• facial trauma
• cleft lip and palate
• tempromandibular joint (TMJ)
• dental implants
• dental extractions (including wisdom teeth)

Chad is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University where he is involved in teaching dental students, medical students, and residents in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as other medical specialties. He has served as the President of the Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Society of Dental Specialists of Nova Scotia. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has served as the Atlantic Regional Councilor for this organization. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and has been an examiner with this organization for more than ten years.

Chad enjoys doing what he can to make a positive difference in the lives of his patients.

Interests outside of OMF

When he is not a work, you will likely find Chad at the hockey rink or soccer field with his wife and 3 children.  He has been coaching minor hockey for the past 8 years.  Early in the morning you will often find him cycling or running in and around Halifax.
